Checking your Computer has what it takes to play a game.

When contacting a game manufacturer they usually need to know you system configuration. The easiest way to provide this is to send
them a DxDiag.txt file as an attachment to your email message. To do this you need to:

1. Click on the Windows Start Menu in the bottom left corner of the screen and select Run.
2. Type in: dxdiag
3. Click OK, a DirectX window will now appear..
4. Select the Save All Information tab. (This will save a text file called "DxDiag.txt" with your computer details -
choose somewhere to save this file so that you can retrieve it later.)
5. Click Exit to close the DirectX window.
6. Send this file as an attachment to your email message, which should contain a description of your problem. They can see your system setup from the file and try and help you out.
Please note they can take a couple of weeks to reply to messages.

NB. While you have the DxDiag Diagnostic screen displayed, you can look for yourself to check that your computer, and in particular your graphics card
(select the Display tab) meets the minimum game requirements. It is also a good idea to make sure you have the latest drivers, especially for your video card, so make a note of the video card make and model number and then check their website for the latest driver information.

Games and Windows XP

Only Saddle Club Willowbrook Stable is designed to work on Windows XP. We do not recommend that you try and run any of the other games on XP unless would are prepared to be disappointed.
The game manufactures do not seem to be providing patches to allow these games to run on XP but you can try contacting them (email addresses above). If enough people request it they might make it happen.

We did come across the following in the June 2002 edition of PCWorld magazine. It might help you get a non XP game to work but we haven't tried it and some people who have tried it told us it didn't help.

I LOVE WINDOWS XP, except for one thing: Too many programs are not compatible with XP
>>>TIP If you try to Install an older program only to be told that It's not compatible, follow these steps.
Open Windows Explorer to the folder holding the program's setup.exe file. Right-click the file, choose Properties and then click the Compatibility tab. Check Run this program in compatibility mode for, and select one of the Windows versions (95, 98/Me, NT, or 2000) in the dropdown list. Now Install the program as usual. If you run into a problem, follow the same steps for the file that opens and run the program,
I used this technique to install eight of my favorite games on my XP system - games that I otherwise would have had to scrap, Ive also Salvaged five other useful programs in the same way. © PCWorld Magazine. http://pcworld.com/

However, we want to stress once again, that we do not recommend that you try and run any of the games, except for Saddle Club, on Windows XP.

Replacement Discs:

Sorry, we no longer send out replacement discs to customers who can't get a game to run as we have never had this help resolve a problem. This even applies to the "Error On Disc" message that some people have received when trying to load Saddle Club-Willowbrook Stables: Replacement discs didn't solve the problem. The problem always seems to be with a person's computer or computers. We have had customers who have tried to install a game onto 4 different computers and not have the game work on any of them and therefore assume the fault is with the disc. They still couldn't get the game to run with the replacement disc.

This is not to say that a disc cannot be faulty, it is just to say that we have never come across a faulty disc being a cause of a problem with a game.

Cleaning a Disc:

You should also check that you have not got finger prints on the disc or scratched it. Look at the side without any printing on it and see if it looks dirty.
If it does look dirty you can try cleaning it using a very soft cloth and wipe from the center out, do not clean it in circles. Be really careful as any dirt on the cloth could damage the disc surface.

Returning the Game for a Refund:

If you really can't get a game to work, you can return the game to us and we will refund you the cost of the game. We can only give refunds on games that were bought from us.

How do I Return a Game:

If you have lost of mislaid your returns instructions that came with the game, please email us and we will send you returns information. Otherwise follow the instructions on the returns form.
