Edward Dega's painting of Jockeys on Horseback before Distant Hills (1884) is transferred to stained glass using time-honored techniques.
Enamel colors are painted onto European-made cathedral glass. The colors are individually applied and then dried at temperatures reaching 300 degrees Fahrenheit. Each enamel is cooled and inspected - one color at a time - before the next enamel is applied.
Once the painting has been completed the design is fired, reaching temperatures of nearly 1,100 degrees Fahrenheit and allowing the enamels to become permanently fused into the glass.
The colors are guaranteed by the manufacturer never to fade.
The Stained glass and it’s frame measures just under 10.25" X 8.75".
The ornament weighs approx. 22 oz, so it should be hung from a secure window frame rather than from a suction cup hook.
It ships in a foam cushioned box. A chain for hanging and a plastic stand for standing the ornament are included.
